WUSA9 Coverage of Sinus Balloon Surgery Performed by Dr. Michael Abidin

5K Lyme Run
Several LMG Providers and staff participated in a 5K at Loudoun Valley High School in Purcellville, VA on Sunday, May 19th. This event benefited Loudoun Lyme. Details at www.lououndlyme.org.
New York City Bus Trip
A group of 40 LMG employees visited New York City via Virginia Coach Bus on Saturday, May 11th. This annual event is enjoyed by employees, who spend 8 hours of free time exploring Manhattan before returning home.

Leesburg Flower & Garden Festival
Loudoun Medical Group proudly was the grand sponsor of the 23rd Annual Leesburg Flower & Garden Festival. This event took place in downtown Leesburg, with over 30,000 guests estimated. LMG’s tent was one of the many highlights of the event, with a face painter, balloon artist and prize wheel, over 5,000 individuals were greeted by LMG staff. The LMG logo was seen on staff and volunteer t-shirts, red event tote bags given out to all guests, in local newspapers. LMG was also mentioned in various radio spots including WTOP and WINC FM. Many guests were patients of LMG practices, and many others expressed interest in learning about the many healthcare solutions available to their families through the group. King Pinz “Super Bowl” Battle of the Pods
The 2nd annual LMG Battle of the Pods Bowling Tournament took place on April 11th and April 14th. Each practice that participated as a team in a friendly competition for various trophies including The Most Unique Bowler, The Highest Scoring Team, and The Highest Scoring Individual each night. This two night, team building event is so anticipated, teams often have either home-made or professional t-shirts made to represent their practice affiliation.
LMG Announces New Medical Director
Loudoun Medical Group is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Anthony E. Crowley as Medical Director. Dr. Crowley, a founding shareholder of LMG and co-owner of Leesburg Sterling Family Practice, has served on LMG’s Board of Directors since 2012. He brings a wealth of experience in physician relations and medical leadership to the Medical Director position.
Dr. Crowley joined Leesburg Sterling Family Practice (LSFP) in 1987 after completing his residency training in Family Medicine at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine. LSFP is the largest family practice within Loudoun Medical Group and is one of the largest primary care practices in Loudoun County, with locations in Lansdowne, Leesburg, Purcellville, Ashburn and Lovettsville.
Board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Crowley earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia and his bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary.
In addition to his service on the LMG Board of Directors, Dr. Crowley has served as the President of the Loudoun Hospital Medical Staff and Chairman of the Loudoun Hospital Department of Family Medicine. He also chairs the LMG Real Estate Committee.
LMG congratulates Dr. Crowley on this achievement. LMG also thanks the outgoing Medical Director, Dr. Martha Calihan, for her considerable services to LMG. Dr. Calihan’s guidance and leadership built the foundation for the development of a robust quality program, which will allow LMG to continue to thrive in today’s changing medical climate.
American Red Cross Blood Drive
LMG partnered with the American Red Cross on Tuesday, March 26th 2013 from 9AM – 1PM at 19500 Sandridge Way, Lansdowne, VA. Nearly 20 units of blood were collected to benefit the Chesapeake, Virginia region.

Loudoun Times Mirror features Dr. Nicholas Lailas
Dr. Nicholas Lailas of The Urology Group was featured in an article printed by the Loudoun Times Mirror on February 22, 2013. Dr. Lailas gave feedback about using Firefly, a florescence imaging system with 3D imaging on the da Vinci Si Surgical System at Reston Hospital Center.
Virginia Board of Medicine Announces Appointment of Dr. Kevin O’Connor
Loudoun Medial Group (LMG), the largest multi-specialty, physician-owned medical practice in Northern Virginia, is proud to share Governor Bob McDonnell’s announcement of the appointment of Dr. Kevin O’Connor to the Virginia Board of Medicine. Dr. O’Connor, a founding shareholder of LMG and co-owner of The Urology Group, has served as Chairman of the Loudoun Medical Group Board of Directors since 2010.
Dr. O’Connor joined The Urology Group in 1992 after completing his residency training at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The Urology Group, one of northern Virginia’s most dynamic and state-of-the-art practices, offers comprehensive urologic services, including minimally invasive and da Vinci Robotic Surgery.
Prior to completing his training at Georgetown University Hospital, Dr. O’Connor earned a Master’s degree in physiology and a medical degree from Georgetown University. Since entering practice, he has maintained an active surgical and office practice with special interest in pediatrics, fertility, and cancer.
He has served as president of the Loudoun County Medical Society, Loudoun Hospital Center’s Chief of Staff, and has been instrumental in spearheading many quality initiatives. Dr. O’Connor has also served on the Loudoun County Disability Services Board. He maintains an active membership within the American Urologic Society, is certified by the American Board of Urology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. O’Connor lives in Loudoun County with his wife and two children.
LMG congratulates Dr. O’Connor on his appointment to the Virginia Board of Medicine and recognizes the responsibility of the role in shaping the future of the practice of medicine throughout the Commonwealth.
Valentine’s Cookie Social at Heritage Hall
The CBO Staff visted with their neighbors at Heritage Hall for a Valentine’s Cookie Social on February 15th from 2-3PM. The residents enjoyed cookies, punch and small token gifts such as crossword puzzle books, fuzzy sucks, lotions, stationary, toiletries
Country Line Dance Class
LMG Employees participated in complimentary country line dance classes on February 23rd & 28th at Leesburg Volunteer Fire Dept. This activity counted towards wellness activities as part of the LMG “Too Fit Too Quit” Employee Wellness Program.

Annual Pod Fair & Charity Raffle
LMG hosted a Holiday Pod Fair & Charity Raffle on Tuesday, December 4th at Belmont Country Club 4-7PM. The raffle with ticket sales benefiting LMG Charitable Foundation totaled over $8,000. Raffled items included 50″ Samsung TV, Ipad, IPod Touch & Wireless Outdoor Speaker System, $300 Spa Minerale Salon Gift Certificate, Wii, XBox 360 with Kinect, Lansdowne Resort Golf Package, Bed & Breakfast Gift Certificate. Attending staff also enjoyed generous door prize opportunities, including a provider Royal Caribbean Cruise . Many select vendors and numerous LMG Pods participated in making this event a huge success!
Keep Warm Coat Drive
The Keep Warm Coat Drive ran November 12th through December 7th . Donated new or gently used coats for all ages were collected at across all LMG locations. The coats were delivered on December 11th by LMG staff in a moving truck to Willing Heart Community Care Center to be distributed to families affected by Hurricane Sandy in need in NY & NJ .

“Too Fit To Quit” Wellness Program
The corporate wellness program relaunched with a second chance for employees to earn a discount on their 2013 health insurance premiums. It included private, low cost Zumba & Yoga classes.
Claude Moore Park 5K Walk
LMG staff, family, and four-legged friends enjoyed a 5 mile hike at beautiful Claude Moore Park in Sterling, VA on Sunday, October 21st. The group set out at 9AM on an intended 5K (3.12 miles) hike. After a few “detours”, the hike concluded at 11:15AM. Some of our wellness program participants clocked there steps on pedometers, and the group was excited to realize that they had exceeded their goal and walked 5 miles! This event was a successful “step” towards wellness.

Sunrise Assisted Living Cookie Social
On Thursday, September 20th, the employees from the LMG Central Billing Office (CBO) visited their neighbors at Sunrise Assisted Living, bringing with them cookies & punch to share with the residents. The staff have been collected trinkets to give as gifts. The residents were delighted to chat with the staff, and thoroughly enjoyed the gift table. There were enough gifts leftover to stock the facility’s bingo gift supplies basket for some time.

In the Friday, September 7th edition of the Leesburg Today newspaper, Loudoun Medical Group was named 18th largest employer in Loudoun County. With over 700 employees, LMG is proud to be an integral part of the community.
New York City Bus Trip

Bags & Bling
Charming Charlie’s donated 10% of all proceeds from LMG employees & patients to the LMG Charitable Foundation, for sales made between 4-6PM on July 23rd. This event was also a means of branding LMG to the public.
Food Drive
LMG held a cereal drive July 2nd – July 12th with collection points at all LMG office locations. Donations were distributed to Loudoun Interfaith Relief in Leesburg . Donations totaled 212 boxes of cereal, weighing in at 252 pounds. . The local food banks report giving out 100 boxes of cereal a day, with a higher demand in the summer due to children not having access to free or reduced cost meals at school. Thank you to those who participated in this event.

Local Practice Featured in Purcellville Gazette
Leesburg, VA, April, 2009 – Dr. Rebecca Fox and Dr. Corninna Schrankel of Loudoun Pediatric Associates, a member of Loudoun Medical Group, PC were featured on the front page of the Purcellville Gazette newspaper. LPA had recently moved their offices to the newly constructed Inova Medical Building in Purcellville. In the article, LPA highlighted their expanded offices, new Sunday hours and several new programs aimed to new mothers in the area.
