About Century Management Company

Century Management Company (CMC) is a physician-owned consulting firm dedicated to providing management services to medical practitioners. Established in the spring of 2001, CMC offers a range of administrative and management services, including managed care credentialing, financial services, billing and accounts receivable management, human resource functions and clerical work to private practices.

CMC’s founders formed the company in response to a general need for experienced professionals to handle their practice management. The majority of healthcare professionals enter medicine to help patients, not to spend their time wading through bureaucratic red tape and ceaseless paperwork. Mary Elizabeth Tamasy, C.P.A.

Chief Financial Officer

Mary Elizabeth Tamasy, CPA, is the chief financial officer of Loudoun Medical Group, PC. In this role, Mary Beth’s chief aim is to assist physicians and their partners in achieving improved bottom line performance while maintaining or improving patient care and service. She and her team provide accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and educate the group’s physicians regarding their practices’ finances utilizing a variety of tools, including cost/benefit analyses; break-even analyses; benchmarking; financing and compensation models; and tax-planning. In addition, she supervises budget preparation; internal control review; and financial report preparation at the provider level.

Prior to joining LMG, Mary Beth was a financial consultant with Diversified Medical Management, a Pittsburgh-based healthcare consulting firm specializing in financial valuations of medical groups, as well as analyzing physician compensation models and providing general accounting services.

Before her association with DMM, Mary Beth was in private practice for nine years providing audit and accounting services. While in private practice, Mary Beth also worked as an independent sub-contractor for the federal government, performing hundreds of audits of Medicare cost reports. Due to the nature of this work, Mary Beth worked frequently with the O.I.G. and F.B.I in obtaining evidence of potential fraudulent and abusive activities, calculating the value of government overpayments and providing expert testimony.

Prior to establishing her private practice, Mary Beth was employed at Price Waterhouse as an audit manager and consultant and at Arthur Young & Company. While working for these international accounting firms, Mary Beth worked on a wide range of healthcare clients including: community hospitals; home health agencies; medical practices; nursing homes; blood banks; and drug and alcohol centers.

She received a commendation early in her career for having successfully completing the uniform C.P.A. examination upon first sitting. Mary Beth earned a B.A. degree in psychology and education fromCarlowCollegeinPittsburgh, and received her accounting credentials from theUniversityofPittsburgh.

The PulsePro Healthcare Information System (PulsePro) works on a number of platforms, including advanced Internet, network and hardware technologies, to provide cost-effective, high-quality, and accessible applications, support and services. PulsePro can collect, process, report and analyze comprehensive patient and insurance data in real time, providing immediate and pertinent information to guide users in making timely, well-informed decisions. The easy-to-learn system is based on familiar Microsoft technology, which minimizes training time and maximizes productivity. PulsePro is also built on a modular-based open architecture to allow for future growth within the network as new technologies enter the marketplace, and boasts robust security mechanisms to ensure data protection and confidentiality.

Reporting PulsePro and CMC can provide the report and analytics necessary to ensure your billing and AR systems are efficient and effective in the collection/revenue cycle. Many reports are generated from Pulse and others are completed in excel by skilled CMC accounting staff.

Clients have access to the CMC-PulsePro network for day-to-day billing operations and helpdesk support. CMC also offers cash receipt and lock box processing functions, and general supervision and guidance of all billing procedures. Pulse™ systems are compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) mandates and all functions are executed in accordance with GAAP.

Physician Compensation Models

Physician compensation models need to change as the physician practice changes. CMC’s staff will work with your staff to review proposed contracts from managed care organizations to ensure the language meets your exact requirements with access to the most up-to-date information on competitive rates available in your area. Credentialing
Obtaining participation with managed care organizations can be a long, grueling process if you don’t know what you’re doing. But in order to ensure that your patients have access under their health plans, every doctor needs to go through the credentialing process. CMC can help you wade through the bureaucracy.

CMC personnel are experienced guides through the application process for managed care participation, in addition to helping physicians or physician groups apply to government managed care, such as Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE. CMC also provides access to the CAQH online credentialing service for applying to major health plans.

In addition, our staff will confirm qualifying physicians have the proper medical license, DEA certification and malpractice insurance. As an added benefit, CMC will also provide manpower for data entry, upon request
